Speedcube.com.au is co-owned and operated Maxine Holder. 

Maxine is the creator of the How to Solve series—beginner-friendly, step-by-step tutorials designed to help anyone master the world’s most popular twisty puzzles. Her guides are built on more than a decade of hands-on experience working with cubers of all ages and skill levels.

For many years, Maxine owned and operated a speedcube business where customers could visit, try out puzzles, and share their cubing challenges. It quickly became clear that those visits weren’t just about buying puzzles—they were about learning to solve them. Maxine spent years answering questions, testing methods, and observing how real beginners approached each puzzle. Those insights became the foundation of her tutorials, which now live on her website, YouTube channel, and eBooks.

Before entering the cubing world, Maxine worked as a computer programmer throughout the 90s and early 2000s. Writing detailed user manuals was part of her everyday work, and that experience proved invaluable when creating clear, structured, and accessible twisty-puzzle guides.

During her time running the speedcube shop, Maxine met countless incredible people—brilliant minds who shone when given a puzzle and a bit of encouragement. Her work is dedicated to them. They deserve to be seen.
